Experience Goal
Arriving in San Diego the prospective customer was hoping to organize a casual dinner for a group of twelve college students. Without much knowledge of the city the customer wished to find a convenient, affordable option which would contribute positively to the experience of all parties included. Not looking for a tourist-attraction or a chain restaurant, the options were limited to favorite local establishments within downtown San Diego. Ideally the restaurant would feature a broad menu, large portions, and would provide a unique dining experience. This selection criteria led the prospective customer to choose Sixth Avenue Bistro—a casual and contemporary family-style restaurant.

Located on the corner of Sixth Avenue and B Street in Downtown San Diego, the Bistro’s bay view windows act as big screen TV’s capturing the hustle and bustle of the Financial District outside. But if it’s a real big screen for the game you need, we have those too! (About Us, 16)

Restaurant Experience
Physical Facility
Entering Sixth Avenue Bistro the customer found the physical environment to be clean, orderly, and understated. The Bistro featured a take-out section directly across from the entrance, a full bar, and both outdoor and indoor seating. Inside, the furniture itself was slightly worn—wooden tables and chairs showed scratches while the benches had an occasional loose seam. The walls were each painted a different color and the room featured large open windows facing the downtown action. Condiments sat on each table along with a beverage menu, and a place setting at every seat.

The meal started with house made rolls and olive oil for the table, with main courses arriving shortly. Each booth was served separately, but each table was served entirely before moving onto the next. The jambalaya was served hot and in a relatively large portion.

Conclusion
Sixth Avenue Bistro claims to be a local hub with “something special to offer for every occasion” (About Us, 2016). The data that the customer collected proved the Bistro to be a relaxed and welcoming establishment, providing a memorable dining experience. Charismatic service, honest family-style food, and a comfortable setting echoed the company’s values. The customer left the establishment feeling satisfied, and returned the following day for lunch.
Recommendations
Sixth Avenue Bistro remained true to the company philosophy. The recommendations that the customer had would target the physical facility. Updated booths—for improved seating as well as aesthetics—and a freshly painted interior would significantly enhance The Bistro. Maintaining the atmosphere of casual comfort is extremely important to this location. These additions would elevate the dining atmosphere and push the actual experience to be more in-line with the company’s

When you first enter you will notice a small waiting area with different license plates from a range of dates and states. Lighting is dim, but over the table lighting seemed bright, and the music is loud. They also have large taxidermy trophies, and televisions with sports programs hanging on their walls. They have a bar that is in the center of the restaurant. It is very well stocked and the bartenders have all the patrons that I have seen smiling and enjoying their time spent at the establishment.…

I chose to write my paper on S. Truett Cathy, because as you will see, he is one of the great pioneers of the hospitality, and foodservice, industry. From a very young age, Samuel Truett Cathy (“Truett”) realized that providing excellent customer service was the heart and soul of any good business model. He set out to accomplish his goals, and with some ups and downs along the way, built the second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States. S. Truett Cathy is an gifted businessman, author, Presidential Volunteer Service Award winner, and philanthropist; he also embodies the very meaning of exceeding guest expectations. The Meatpacking District is one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC because of how hip it is and how it is packed with steel and glass lofts, with sun pouring though the oversized windows. It always gives me an electric feeling walking around the cobble streets, looking at the Chelsea Market and walking the High Line. All of that sprightliness is encapsulated perfectly into the Fig and Olive. It has those floor to ceiling windows, that let rays seep in, reinforced by industrial steal framing the beautiful warehouses. The loft-like space of the restaurant has many rugged aspects like the hanging warehouse pendant lights and the metallic components throughout, however Fig and Olive also has a calm Mediterranean feel to its decor.…

If you do not wish to utilize the valet parking, you can park right around the corner. Parking is never an issue at this location, it’s in a safe area, and its right by the mall, so you can even go shopping after your lunch or dinner. The wait staff were very proficient, dressed professionally, white dress shirts, with black dress pants and the service was outstanding. From the minute you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted by the host, seated right away, although, during dinner time, there might be a little wait, but it’s worth it. The drinks, the meal, and the desert came out flawless, as well as the service.…

Purpose There are many groups that are specific to a topic, yet not all of the groups will be considered as a discourse community. Discourse, according to Dictionary.com, means “communication of thought by words; talk; conversation,” and community is a social group that has members. For our course project, my restaurant of choice was the Red Lobster located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Red lobster is one of the world’s most famous casual/family seafood restaurants. It has been a staple of downtown Silver Spring’s eclectic dining community for more than 15 years. Interestingly enough, in all the years I’ve been dining at red lobster, I’ve never really given any consideration about what happens behind the scenes and the day-to-day operations. Luckily, after interviewing the manager, Harrison Shea, I’ve a better appreciation for just how challenging working in the restaurant industry can be.…

For a lot of people who spent the year before the market crash running around, November 2007 became a new era, bringing the Hispanic culture back to the corner of 111th street and 3rd Avenue in Spanish Harlem. Relaxed, full of music, dancing and performance art became the fashioned restaurant of “Amor Cubano” that brought a taste of Cuba’s cultural food founded by Julio Quevdo, Mario Zarate and the young couple Dailyn Santos and Jorge Davis.
