Essay On Respiratory Therapist

I shadowed a respiratory therapist named Jone Huffman. According to her, she usually check oxygen deficiencies or respiration difficulties from many patients. She was assigned to many patients daily, and provides therapies while observing how patient is breathing. She also records acidity, carbon dioxide, and oxygen in the lung to check for abnormalities. For me, multiple physical contacts with many patients in one day is not favorable, so becoming a respiratory therapist is impossible, but one thing that I liked about being an respiratory therapist is that you receive so many works from doctors which gives a sense of duty and necessity of the occupation in the hospitals since there were so many requests for respiratory therapy. At the beginning when I was assigned to Mrs. Huffman, she was already giving a therapy to a man with scabies. Although I didn’t saw the procedure, she said she was just checking his oxygen level. When working with the patients so many times in a day need politeness since dealing patient with good attitude results in trusts, professionalism, and cooperation from the patient. When taking a breathing measurement, the respiratory therapist should always be calm and patient so that the patient will not be under a pressure from you that can change the pattern of breathing. Lastly, the respiratory therapist should know how to interact with people. Since almost every hospital occupation frequently interact with patient, knowing how to interact with the patient will lead into quicker process of checking health which saves time for a busy respiratory therapists. I’ll give a rating of 6 because becoming a respiratory therapist means that you have to walk around everywhere in the hospital and give therapies to so many patients. This can be difficult for me since I’d prefer to stay in one spot with less contact with
