The second amendment states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This amendment has become extremely controversial over the past few years with an increasing amount mass shooting in our country. I believe that the second amendment should not be repealed. That would be an infringement on our basic rights that we insited upon from the very start of our country. Thomas Jefferson himself stated one of many reasons for the right to bear arms. He says ,”The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

Many people want to repeal the second amendment because they believe that guns are bad. I disagree, I believe that guns save more people rather then harm them. Of 5,000 incidents reported between 2003-2011 over 1,227 burglaries, 25 rape attempts, and 201 attacks were stopped by

Having the ability and the capability to protect yourself, your family and other people in the public from armed attackers should be seen as a personal responsibility and the government has no right to deny responsible adults the ability to do so legally. The criminal elements of our society carry concealed weapons despite laws designed to prevent that. If our laws do not deter illegal use of firearms in the commission of a crime, they certainly should not prevent or deter the lawful use of firearms to prevent such crimes. Laws that forbid the carrying of arm disarm mostly those who are not determined to commit crime. Repealing the 2nd amendment makes things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage, than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed

The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights states clearly that the people’s right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed on. This has led to one of the most complicated and volatile issues in America today. People on both sides of this issue have strong beliefs. Some argue that when our founding fathers wrote the bill of rights, the guns were not as deadly as the ones available today. Supporters of the Second Amendment today argue that people’s right should not be infringed on no matter what.…

In America there practically is a mass shooting every day according to a mass shooting tracker. Where more than four people die in one incident. The day begins just like any other in a quiet, small town, when out of nowhere a suspicious man enters the local bank and confidently states that this is a holdup. All of the innocent bystanders inside the bank are physically incapacitated initially out of fear as the bank robber brandishes his intimidating firearm while giving directions to the civilians not to move or speak unless exclusively instructed to do so at his command. The man also warns them not to try anything sneaky or else he will be compelled to do something crazy. The suspect makes his way to the bank tellers at which point he aggressively grabs one of the employees by the shirt and demands they empty the vaults and hand over the funds to him. Meanwhile, one of the hostages…

Mass Shootings The anti-gun crowd would like us to believe that with more guns, comes more gun violence, but since more and more states have allowed people to carry a side arm, crime has declined. Can these things be a mere coincidence? Perhaps, but even if that’s true, it still proves that allowing law abiding citizens to be armed does not increase crime, and suggest that it contributes to lowering it instead (Federal Bureau of Investigation, n.d.). Something else to ponder is where do mass shootings occur?…

The first reason why the second amendment is important is because we are an uncommon nation, to have the right to own arms so why change it. Alexander Hamilton, Founding Father, said “The Constitution shall never be constructed… to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arm”. That means that the constitution will never be built to stop peaceable citizens from owning guns. I think he meant as long as we are peaceable citizens, we shall have the right to own guns and if…

As American citizens, everyone is entitled to certain rights that the government is not supposed to infringe upon. However, the Second Amendment is a right that some political figures are working on taking away. Some Americans believe that this amendment should be repealed from the constitution, while many others know that it is a natural born right of a citizen. Doing research on this topic, it is very clear that not everyone in the government is trying to take away this right, but some political figures are in fact attempting to take away the Second Amendment Right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment is stated as “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”…

The purpose of the second amendment is for people to protect themselves, but a great deal of people are abusing the purpose. America has had way too many mass shootings and accidents which resulted in many deaths. If the constitution is a set of laws and laws were established to keep people safe, is it truly doing its job?…

Classic Argument Paper – Gun Control vs. Pro 2nd Amendment Argument ENGL 123 Jesse H. Dixon Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide It’s should come as no surprise that the gun control argument in America is fiery and emotional, with logic and civility most often being pushed aside by frustration, fear and anger. Most arguments over gun control come full of fallacies, and emotional appeal rather than true factual data. Neither side is happy with current gun laws. Gun owners feel their rights are being infringed, while gun control advocates believe it’s far to easy for the criminal or crazy person to get a firearm. Is there a better solution to the argument over gun control and the 2nd amendment?…

Gun Control and the Second Amendment According to Schulman (1991), the text of the Second Amendment of the US Constitutions reads as follows: “a correctly structured militia, for purposes of state security; the right of the citizens to have and to carry arms shall not be challenged.” This is a paraphrased version of what is contained in the original constitutional document. Nonetheless, it captures the spirit of the constitution regarding the issue of guns and their possession thereof.…
