Species Description:
Red elderberry is one of the deciduous plants that lives in NW of North America, which means they would lose their leaves and decrease photosynthesis during fall and winter. New leaves will start growing again during early spring, and produce flowers during summer, which flowers usually white, and pyramidal shape. [1] During the late summer, red elderberry will produce little red berry-like fruits and usually there will be two to five seeds per fruit. One of the most important use of red elderberry is soil stabilization against erosion, it has dense and concentrated roots that hold soil firmly. [1] Besides direct to eat red elderberry’s fruits for food, they are usually used to make dessert, drinks, red elderberry fruit taste sour as raw and rich in antioxidants, however it adds a piece of special flavor and nutrient to the dishes.
