Lastly, many officers commit unfair actions, overstep their boundaries, and blatantly break the laws when detaining suspects. Police officers are obligated to remove threats to society, otherwise there would be chaos within society. Be that as it may it does not excuse their actions on people who for all they know is a regular person,“Police responded to a police station to take custody of a person wanted on a state warrant. When they arrived, they encountered a different man — not the subject of the warrant — who happened to be leaving the station. Police officers have an image to maintain, they must find the balance between convicting the right people and letting the innocent people go. Easier said than done however, and the people will never be satisfied with the future. It is impossible to satisfy 100% of the people, but that does not mean they cannot be better. Racial profiling, or more generally racism, has been a problem for all of time and it will remain as long as people can hate, although police officers can change and hopefully will make a difference in racism by setting an example. Unfortunately, racism will always be a possible concept in law against minorities, due to the nature of human beings to hate something. Like said, one day there will be balance in the discretion in which police officers are able to use, but for now the main issue is police officers choosing the right people for the wrong reasons. Part of this is the people’s image on police officers and the police’s image of the people. In final, police officers have historically and currently show trends of corruption, however like all things, change is possible and one should never let the past define
