How is racism still found in workplaces? How does it affect people and what resolutions can employees find for this case? These are questions that should be considered but most of the time we assume everything is running well, when in reality, it is not. Though, racial discrimination in a workplace is sometimes used to have more control over employees, it has led to many workers leaving their jobs or filing a demand against the company. Therefore, racial discrimination in a workplace should be less appointed to a certain race and apply to all employees equally.
Discrimination based on the color of a person is still found in workplaces although it is illegal. “It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.” ( Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. “African- Americans are twice as likely as whites to be unemployed and they can earn nearly 25 percent less when they are employed.” (Jose vs. Joe Name Discrimination in the Hiring Process, article.) For example, at the same job, a Caucasian may earn more than an African- American, Hispanic or any other race because they are non-white. This has both a positive and negative effect. It consists of a positive outcome for those who are being paid a higher salary and do not work as much. Where areas, it has a negative effect to those who are being discriminated, receiving a lower salary, and working more. It should not matter whether a person has a different color. They are still human beings and are capable of doing and obtaining the same goals as a white person when given an equal
