We are all very quick to claim what race or ethnic background we come from, but have seldom thought what other than skin color really makes one different from another. According to scientists there is little to no difference between us all in a biological sense. Most of society throughout history have constructed mental images of race along with prejudices that lead to unjust discrimination. Our differences are what makes the world turn and what breeds conflict no one group of people is all that willing to assimilate whole heartedly in to any one ethnic group or another it’s just what we must do to define ourselves in a society that demands such. A race of people is a group who have been singled out as inferior or superior, on the basis of real or alleged physical characteristics (Kendall 280). Examples of these characteristics are skin color, hair color, or even the shapes of body parts. Because the world-populations has been reproducing across so called racial lines for quite a long time the idea of race is something that is constructed mentally but carried out physically. Prejudice and discrimination have been obstacles that have created many major conflicts throughout history. Both breed negativity and do not produce solutions or compromise to any social issue the world faces. A prejudice is actually defined as having a negative attitude based on hasty generalizations about individuals of different races, ethnicities, or any group of people for that matter. Because prejudice thoughts and beliefs are based on false information they often lead to discriminatory behaviors.
