The puja was performed by the priest with one of us sitting along with him. It would invariably be Subho till he moved out to do his engineering. The puja would continue till the next day with a lunch of Khichdi on the day of Puja.
We would immerse the Idol in the pond next day with lot of joy and songs. We could have taken the Idol through the rear gate of the colony but always preferred to travel the whole distance to the pond through the main gate, in a circuitous way.

On the day of holi, we would start playing holi with colours from the first house, opposite to the Big Bungalow, near the main gate. It was the responsibility of kids like us and a few enterprising Aunties to start playing holi and immediately move to the first house. Once through with playing holi in that house, aunty from that particular house would bring out home cooked sweets, malpuas and vadas for everyone. Everyone would sample delicacies and would then move to the next house. The same would get repeated till we came back after a U to the Big Bungalow, again near the main gate.
At the Big Bungalow, we would pick each kid or our fathers and put them in the tub full of Palash colour. One full month of effort of collecting and drying flowers was just for those few dips. I have often wondered as to why we not just prepared a tub full of colour water with normal colour that was available in the market. Why did we take so much trouble when we could have avoided all of
