There are many aspects of keeping professionalism as a student in the doctor of physical therapist degree program. Working as a physical therapist technician for the last year has given me insight to professionalism that should be practiced while being a student in the field. One is too continually strive for excellence in everything a student undertakes and to take advantage of this amazing opportunity. This attribute is the basic foundation for being professional during the program. Striving for excellence requires giving your all in everything that is attempted, having a positive attitude towards everything and everyone, and taking the initiative at any given chance. While considering this, one must also keep in mind to schedule time for study breaks and for one's self. A third is to set good examples both within and outside the program. This is accomplished in ways such as completing assignments on time, enforcing all rules given during the physical therapist program, and living a model life. A student of the program can also set a good example by offering to help their colleagues. A fourth aspect of keeping professionalism in the doctor of physical therapist degree program is to always be courteous to everyone involved in providing the student with the knowledge and skills to become the best physical therapist they can be. Teachers, assistants, and guest speakers focus are to assist students in the program to become knowledgeable physical therapists. It is important to be considerate and show them how much their time means to the person they are helping.
