There was one instance that another group member began to chase her around the enclosure, she ran after being forced to give up her seat on the jungle gym structure inside of their small home. However, when she stopped running away she changed angles and began to run toward the other gibbon, as if they were playing tag. After the chase, she seemed completely unbothered and everything in their environment went back to normal, as it was during my whole observation.
This observation was one of the most interesting things that I have ever done. It showed me that the animals in zoos live their whole lives in this small enclosure, yet seem completely unbothered by it. It also showed me to appreciate them more, simple as that. The animals get a chance to connect with you if you spend a little more time with them rather than walking by in a five-minute period of time. In spending more one on one time just you, and whatever is behind the glass, no phone, no friends, and no distractions you get a complete new view about
