We are in the twenty-first century but still we discriminate people based on color. From the time of slavery till today, the race is the major factor which determines the opportunity for individuals of African descent. America is known as “Land of Opportunities” offering equal right and prospects to all, but still that is not truly implemented within our society. According to U.S. Census Bureau data, “the poverty rate for white Americans in 2010 was 13.0 percent. But it was substantially higher for people of color—27.4 percent for blacks and 26.6 percent for Hispanics.” Why is there such huge difference in poverty rate? Each year people from various countries with different race enter the United States dreaming about “American Dream”. They believe that poverty here is mainly caused by sloth and they have an equal opportunity to flourish their future and achieve their dreams. The reality is different this society still discriminate people based of color, culture, and minority. As compared to others Black families are less likely to get the inheritance. The black students graduate at a lower rate and most of them are saddled with college debt. The incarcerated rate of black seems to be much higher which will reduce their ability to get a better opportunity
