The U.S government is based upon the separation of powers, between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. The legislative branch consists of the Senate and House of Representatives called Congress. The major responsibility for the legislative branch is to write laws. The house of Representatives has 435 members, and are elected every two years. Similarly, the Senate has 100 Senators who are elected every 6 years. In the Executive branch, the president holds the power. The president is the head of government and also head of state. The president is responsible for enforcing laws, that are passed by Congress. In the executive branch, there is a head of state which can be the King or Queen, and a head of government, who is the Prime Minister. The monarch has little political decisions but has great symbolic power. Next is the legislative branch, Divided between the House of Commons and Senate. This branch is responsible for decisions, such as immigration, laws, and trade with other countries that affect the whole country.
