The tools of Porter’s Five Forces Model comprise of the Threat of Entry, the Bargaining Power of Buyers, the Bargaining Power of Suppliers, the Threat of Substitutes and Competitive Rivalry (Johnson, Scholes & Whittington, 2008). In order to understand the competitive positioning of Amazon, we use Porter’s five forces model. According to Porter (2008), if a company is aware of the five factors of Porter’s model, then it would be able to gain a profitable position and will be less vulnerable to business harm. Competitive Rivalry: HIGH. Competitors have brand value. Market capture is high at 60% and close competitor is at 30%. Competitors have the large database. For instance, Hudson is a listed company with operations in nearly 20 countries and hence has huge market presence. Canterbury is present in the market for over 25 years with a combined recruitment experience and hence has a large brand value.
Supplier Power: HIGH. There are large number of companies and job seekers.
Threat of Substitution: HIGH. Increasing Social Media presence of Facebook, LinkedIn, SMS Job
