Reports to Pediatric Hemoglobinopathy Department in The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)
Job purpose
An Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ACPNP) responsible to provide optimal management to pediatric patients with sickle cell disease. This management involves ongoing assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and health education to address sickle cell anemia and its complication. The ACPNP is assigned to a multidisciplinary team that includes comprehensive pediatric hematologist, registered nurse, social worker, psychologist and dietician. It is an independent role that requires advanced knowedege and training on Pain management.

• Attend at least one international conference that designated to address sickle cell anemia population issues, new treatment, advance nurse practitioner role, other relative genetic hemoglobinopathy
• Engage in research projects that is conducted through the Pediatric Hemoglobinopathy Department in The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
• Attend or organize at least one full day _10 hours _ educational sessions, workshops or campaigns intended for pediatric population with hemoglobinopathy.
Qualifications
• The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Pediatric Acute Care is masters prepared as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
• The Nurse Practitioner has valid Oregon license as a Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and be certified as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by an PNCB.
• Knowledge in medical claim billing.
• A current, or eligible for, a DEA license in Oregon.
• BLS and PALS Certified
• Knowledge and skills for pain assessment, management and control medications
