Becoming a peak performer
Being a lifelong learner is an essential part of being a peak performer. At Southern Technical College (STC), College Success is a course designed to help students reach their highest potential. In this class our main goal is to achieve becoming a peak performer. I am a college student aspiring to one day become a teacher to help mold young minds. Weekly journals and numerous strategies have helped me learn about my strengths and weaknesses to better overcome any challenges along the way.
Currently I am attending STC, striving towards an associates in early childhood education. Being that I struggle with time: working 3 jobs, family, and school, it has been somewhat difficult for me to stay focused and motivated to …show more content…
Journal entries ask us to think back in time to explain and analyze situations we have been through. Reading over my entries I have learned that I have changed overtime, I have grown as a person and that even though we all encounter different situation we do get through them. I realize that there are situations that I would definitely handle differently now. I learned that I have been able to calmly find solutions to certain situations though at the time they seemed a total loss. Also I realized that there are flaws that unfortunately I have not grown out of, like being a procrastinator, I cannot seem to stop leaving everything for last, though I am working on that.
Engaging in self-assessment exercises are a great tool to becoming a peak performer. Self-assessments have helped me learn how to keep myself positive and motivated, recognizing and knowing what my goals are and what I aspire is a great form of motivation. These assessments also helped me understand how I learn best, I learned that I am for the most part a kinesthetic learner, I do best when I am taught with hands on activities. Overall self-assessments are very important, it is an essential key in discovering where one is excelling or lacking certain …show more content…
Next to make learning physical, being that it is mostly difficult for me to completely understand something after just reading the text, I would be using a lot of this strategy, making things visual and drawing pictures to help me comprehend the text. Lastly taking responsibility, I will put my best effort in taking responsibility for my time and actions, there is no excuse in wanting to reach your
