Essay On Pay Gap

By the dictionary definition of feminist I could be considered a feminist. I advocate for the equality of both sexes. However I don’t agree with some of the things that people who call themselves feminists say. Some of the statistics they report aren’t realistic. Some of what is said in feminist arguments is false. I will give facts and talk about problems I have with the narratives of many feminists. The type of feminism I am critiquing has been called “third wave feminism” and is the newest form of feminism. One of the things I see that is often misrepresented is the pay gap. The pay gap feminists proposes seems to show that women get paid much less for the same job. In some feminist articles I read they say the pay gap shows white women make 78 cents for every dollar a white man makes and a latina women makes 58 cents. While I don’t doubt this is true it isn’t the pay in the same job which I don’t think is mentioned enough in feminist articles. This pay gap exists because of the different job choices women make from men and women tend to have lower paying jobs. Still some feminists make an argument for a pay gap in the same job. However while they were also published in magazines I have refuted them with other sources. The sources I chose support my arguments and have good credibility. The facts I got for the leading causes of death for women came from The World Health Organization which collects lots of data from the world under The United Nations. This shows it’s a very good source for information on this topic. I have also heard feminist complain about being misrepresented in the media like comics and video games.
