As time goes on it seems that the content in media gets worse and worse, and with such easy access to multiple media platforms, it's understandable that parents are afraid of what their children have access to without them knowing. Especially television since there's almost no restrictions on what type of content can be showed, in movies or in tv shows, and there's also no way to stop or monitor the programs one's family can have access to, except with parental block, but is parental block a appropriate solution to the problem, or is to controlling and a lazy form of parenting. I believe that parental block is an appropriate action a parent can take if they’re concerned with what their child has access to. Especially if they have younger children, but I don't believe it is the best solution to the problem. I think it is a lazy form of parenting that provides a quick fix to the issue, I think it would be a better plan of action if the parent sat down and talked with their children on the inappropriate content on the tv. That will create a better understanding of the issues for the children and also give the child a sense of freedom and understanding. For example it would be better for a child to see a tv show or movie in which the characters use drugs or alcohol then to see drugs and alcohol being used by his friends. If he was to see it on tv than one; he wouldn’t have access to it, and two; he would be in a safe environment and have the opportunity to talk with his parents about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, rather than being with his peers were he could be subjected to peer
