While I was observing and taking notes, I realized how engaged they were, first they were exploring by themselves, and then few started to play together. Children were intent on exploring the material, and then were trying to put pieces together. The project was done at centers, at the beginning all children participated, but then few of them started to make other choices. One of the kids took all the centers time. What material will I provide? Do I want children to explore more scientific thoughts or sensory experience? Do I provide natural or mixed material? The students that I work with like cars, sensory materials, we haven’t introduced scissors yet with some of them for we have returning students and new arrived. For my next open ended material I will provide, card boards, shoe box, tape, feathers, pipe cleaners, sharpies, toilet paper rolls, plastic bottles, stickers, shells, felt, foam, rubber band, scissors, and a polyester ball. I am curious to see their perspective, sensory creations, and drawing with the new materials and experience with loose parts.
