The individual feels fresh and pretty with their new hair if the result is desired. However, ombre dying does have the ability to bring about undesirable consequences for an individual as its functionality doesn’t always occur the way we want it to. For example, if an individual were to ombre dye their hair themselves, it has the ability to turn out how they didn’t want it to which could lead to them feeling less confident about themselves and upset at the decision to ombre dye their hair. If a hair dresser ombre dyes an individual’s hair, the individual could also face undesired consequences by being unhappy with the way their hair looks. Dying your hair often makes it more dry and thing considering it is being chemically altered, which qualifies as another undesired consequence of ombre

Chop It All Off Two years ago, I had long, luscious, golden blonde hair that fell down to my waist, and I absolutely hated it. Everyone else seemed to love it, though, so I kept it. I dealt with the static, the lengthy drying time, and the hours of styling that I had dealt with ever since I was little, all because I wanted to be loved and accepted. I wanted to fit into the box of typical girls my age who all had the exact same haircut so that I would be considered “pretty” by the rest of my classmates, but I felt miserable in that box and I didn’t know how to escape.…

We as young African American ladies are taught very young that these manipulations to our hair are so we look “presentable” in public. As we get older, these hair routines become the norm therefore to look presentable we must not wear our hair the way that God or whomever created it as it…
