In the beginning of her nursing career, Ms. Diane desired to become a midwife to assist mothers in childbirth. Upon completion and graduation from nursing school she received a job working in the neonatal intensive care unti. She was nervous to know she would be working with premature babies and was unsure if she could handle any of them dying. Consequently, when she starting working she kept a positive mind set and inetivately, almost immediately she fell in love with taking care of the babies. Due to the passion Ms. Diane developed for taking care of young children as a teacher, she decided to become a nurse practitioner to specialize in neonatal intensive care. She would sit inside the neonatal intensive care unti room to pray and ask God to help alleviate her baby 's pain. Eventually, she asked Ms. Diane to sit and pray with her; she would search for Ms. Diane to talk to her because she stated that Ms. Diane had the ability to calm her nerves and it was helpful to have someone to pray with. "The baby 's mother was a sweet, christian, young lady whom I became close to". After a few months in the neonatal intensive care, doctors were successfully able to insert a shunt in the baby’s brain, and unquestionably the baby health was stronger and she was released from the hospital. Although, due to the fluid accumulation the baby suffered a bit vision complication, that it was recommended she wore glasses. Ms. Diane was invited to the baby 's first birthday party, but at two years of age the baby died from a shunt infection. The baby 's mother asked Ms. Diane to speak at the baby 's funeral, which she gladly agreed to do. Ms. Diane described the funeral as “a very emotional scene”, she explained how upon her arrival to the service, she became aware that the baby was not put into a casket; instead the parents laid her in her crib which was in front of the church’s podium with two night
