Throughout history New York City has been perceive as the city of opportunity. New York City is an astonishing city with luxurious skyscrapers, home of the latest fashion, having one of the biggest public transportation system in the country as many other things such as Broadway theatres, cinemas and the famous Time Square electronic billboards. All these perceptions motivate many people from all over the world to migrate to New York City with hopes of fulfilling their dream of living a better life. Many people not from New York City will not imagine that life in New York City is not as colorful as it seems. New York City it is a city of opportunity, where people pursue their dream through sacrifices and hard work.

Based traveling experience to other countries , I have hold conversation with many people that believe that as soon you land in New York City well paying jobs will be offer to them. These foreigners believe that every resident in this city hold or is in the process of obtaining a white collar job. I needed to explained to many people that even though this city is one the richest city , there many people living in poverty. There are time when people need to sacrifice pursuing their education because they are not financially stable. Scott life is a perfect example of the struggles that New Yorkers go through on a daily basis. In the passage it it clear that that Scott was not living the life that outsider expected life in new york to be. Scott should have been studying or sleeping he was working on the late shift from 8pm to 1am. Scott was too young to work but he knew that him and his mother were struggling financially. In the passage Scott says “I came to understand why they have child labor laws” he said this because he felt like his job was not easy at all. New York is all about hard work and business. Many people who do not live in New York believe, that every New Yorkers have a prosperous and stress free life but ,Scott life experience reflects otherwise. Scott made it through five hours of work and he only earned $7.50. New
