Throughout the campaign a candidate will strive to effectively articulate statistics and compelling stories that support the candidate’s position on those important issues in order to obtain sufficient votes to win the election. A research article by Nellie Mae (2015) identified the most important issue for their organization in education as “What enables students to succeed in school?”(p. 2) A summary report along with the commissioned reports provide statistics and stories for the purpose of convincing school administrators and teachers to select (vote for) the methodology of student-centered learning in their educational setting. Student-centered learning is based on learning being: personalized, competency-based, occurring anytime – anywhere rather than being restricted, and students taking ownership for their success in learning. (p.3) Responsibility for education must be assumed by individuals, however, in student-centered learning those individuals are not to operate in a silo, but are to support and celebrate the accomplishments of others. (p.3) Success by an individual contributes to the success of the group, to the point that an entire community in which a school is located might begin to be transformed. An effective way to communicate such success and transformation is through the publishing of quantitative research statistics and qualitative research
