Ever since I was a little fourth grader at Brookview Elementary, I have been heavily involved with the Boone Progressors 4-H club in Dallas County. I have been an active member of my club by holding offices as part of the leadership team. Over my years in 4-H, I have been our club’s photographer, secretary, vice president and our current president. I have also helped plan our club’s activities and service projects. Some of our service projects have included Meals from the Heartland, Operation Christmas Child, Adopt-A-Family, picking up walnuts in the yards of elderly in Waukee, making Christmas and Valentine’s Day cards for residents at Waukee retirement homes - amongst many others. Those, let me to taking advantage of the opportunities Waukee’s APEX program presents. By the time my high school career is over, I will have taken three of the experiential APEX courses. I have been exposed to many scenarios during those classes that I can apply to my future opportunities. It also has inspired me to utilize those talents I am passionate about in activities at the high school. Some projects I have worked on for the school and community include: revamping and recreating Jacobs Gymnastics’ website, filming and editing promotional videos for volunteers and participants of Unity Point, the YMCA and Waukee APEX’s Healthy Kids Day, making promotional videos for the APEX program and branding for my family’s horse business and farm. I also have made videos for the high school and the publication class. One of my proudest experiences was taking the initiative to do something I have always wanted to do - networking with staff to get access to the field to make hype videos for Waukee’s football team. Along with videography, I am passionate about photography. I have used photography to help out with school events such as football, swimming, soccer, show choir and homecoming
