Pennsylvania National Guard Benefits

California University of Pennsylvania is a state university secluded in a small town in the mountains. Even though it is out of the way in location, it makes up for that in the education it offers. It offers a variety of four year programs and has a diverse student body. I believe that other schools pale in comparison to CalU. I chose this school for a variety of reasons, but I know that it was the right choice for me. The main reason I enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard was so that I could attend college and receive the benefits. The main educational benefits of the National Guard are EAP and the GI Bill. EAP basically covers full tuition, or up to a certain amount depending on the school. State schools are completely covered in terms of tuition. I was given a list of state schools to choose from, and CalU was on that list, which is how I heard about it in the first place. EAP completely covers my tuition here, the only real thing I have to worry about is supplies and housing. Even then, I have the GI Bill to help me with this, which basically gives me a bit of money every month for being enrolled full time. The campus is gorgeous, small, and secluded. I like small secluded locations and hate big cities, so the location is perfect. The National Guard covers my tuition in full, so it costs less for me to attend here. I could attend other state schools closer to home, but I do not want to be close to home. I want to get away from the stress of home and see more of Pennsylvania. The Graphic Design program is great so fear and I am learning so much from this university about this. The professors know how to do their job and take pride in educating students. I took a shot in the dark when I chose CalU, but I know this is where I want to be and that I should be

In David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell is correct when he claims that It is better to be a “big fish in a small pond,” so attending California State University Sacramento as oppose to UC Berkeley is a better fit for me. When it comes to picking a school, nobody explains it better than Malcolm Gladwell with his “Relative Deprivation Theory”. Malcolm states that the definition of relative deprivation is “Rather than viewing ourselves and making self assessments of where we are at in terms of the world, we make them according to our immediate surroundings”. He shares with us the struggle of being a “Little fish in a big pond” and that choosing a prestigious school may not always be in our best interest. I am currently going to American River…

I want to attend SDSU for many reasons, one being how I am a San Diego “native,”I was born in the county of San Diego and have resided here my whole life. All the experiences and knowledge I have gained has occurred in this area. Most of my family live in San Diego so by going to SDSU I will still be able to see them everyday and go to them when I need advice. I would not have to worry in adjusting to a new life or a new city. I know the roads and stores in San Diego, I have visited the SDSU campus at least once a year, for tours, sporting events or concerts.…

I will compare their cost, academics and rankings. Let’s begin with cost. UCLA costs $12,816 for a year if you live off campus, but Cal Poly costs $9,876 to live off campus as well. Although UCLA is more expensive, I do live around 2 miles from UCLA so this would be good. Since I live around 40 miles from Cal Poly, it would be a little more expensive…
