Parents today should be responsible for a generation of children who lack moral limitations and discipline. Just about every parent has one raging narcissist to deal with whether it be now or later on in life. Parents who overvalue their child (ren) during their developmental stage, telling them they are superior to others and entitled to special treatment are more likely to produce narcissistic children. Not every adolescent is significantly superior to the other, and parents should not make it seem that way. These parents who consider their youngster to be the absolute greatest and feel that they deserve extra in life, may now be characterized as responsible for bringing one more self-important narcissist into society. Parenting styles such as giving their child (ren) everything and anything they want. The word “no” is not in their vocabulary because these type of parents believe that their child is God. Yes a child can have some of the wants they want in life, but that should not affect what they truly need. Parents should set boundaries for their child as they grow up, not just let that innocent life believe “whatever you want, you can have” type of life. Loving your child is healthy and good, but thinking your child is better than other children can lead to narcissism, and there is nothing healthy about narcissism (2015). Just like how people are not born racist, people are not born egotistic. These special kind of parents need to realize that because you give a child everything they wanted in life, does not mean that it will benefit them as the parent in the long run.
