Should NASA’s budget be cut? They spend billions of dollars every year and we have not saw a major leap like we did with Apollo. Well, that's not true. NASA has had amazing breakthroughs and some that are still in the works. If anything NASA should be receiving a larger budget so that they can complete their missions on schedule. The main reason why NASA has not had another Apollo is because of the lack of funding. NASA’s budget should not be cut because of how it contributes to the general public health, how small their budget really is, and how NASA is ensuring the survival of our species. First of all, NASA has impacted our lives by their innovations in technology. It has saved a countless number of lives and prevented many fatal injuries. Sure they spend billions of dollars every year, but that's “only 0.4 percent of the federal budget”(McLain). Less than one percent of the whole federal budget is spent to have a better understanding of our universe. How ridiculous is that? Not only that but the Trump administration wants to lower this number from an all time high of 19.3 billion dollars down to 19 .1 billion for 2018 (Harwood). Sure its minor cut, but what about the next year and the next. The budget has fluctuated from 18 billion in 2015 to 19.3 billion in 2016 back to 19.1 billion for 2017 and is expected to be lowered (Malik).
