Essay On Mynnette

Hi! I'm Mynnette, but I go by Mynn. It's easier to spell for most people, not to mention pronounce. I was born in Provo, Utah and am the oldest of nine children. My parents were both born and raised in Utah, but we moved when I was around two. Even though I have lived in Kansas for about 20 years, but I feel like I grew up in the Seattle area in a city called Kent. I currently live in Derby with my husband of 11 years and our fur baby, a sweet little rescue girl named Hundie. She is the best dog anyone could ever have, and we love her like a child. I was in the gifted program in Washington, but it was geared differently than here in Kansas as it was a full day class. You had to be at least one year ahead of your typical peers in all subject areas in order to participate. I did pretty well, but struggled in math, especially long division, which was hard for me as a first child with perfection issues. When we moved to Kansas, I had to be reassessed before going into the gifted program and so was able to retake the math that had been difficult for me. This helped me greatly. I started the BEST program through Butler in 2013 after a 10 year hiatus from college. During that hiatus, I worked as a paraeducator for the Derby and Haysville school districts. It was the special needs students that I interacted with that inspired me to gain a teaching degree. Although it was difficult to leave these children, I knew that I would need to quit working full time in order to be successful in my return to college. My goal is to eventually obtain a Masters in Special Education and an administration certification. I would like to open a charter school for children with special needs and focus on helping them become well integrated in the world around
