I truly believe that all my achievements, difficulties and obstacles have happened for a reason and exactly as they should have, even though I could not see that or realise it at the time. G-d had this plan for me, which was set in motion when I was born.

Since I was small I always struggled with school. Initially it was only mathematics and languages but later on it included most subjects. I have always had to put in a great deal more time and effort with my school work than everyone else I know. I also had to forfeit taking part in many sports as I was always studying. And no matter how hard I worked, how much time I put in my studying, I could not seem to achieve decent results! Many times I would just want to give up but my parents

If I continue to be a good person and if I am patient, one day the higher purpose of my life will hopefully be revealed to me.

Thirdly, is my love for nature and the bush. This is the place that I love most in this world, the place that I feel myself and most at peace. It shows me that no matter how fake and false this world is, how awful it is that so many people are dying every day, or how difficult some days are, that G-d created a perfect world for all humanity. One just need to make the effort to find that truly peaceful place, that place of beauty and serenity, where we can be ourselves and recharge our soul to give us the strength to push forward – the bush is my such place.

Like Pharrell Williams says in his song: “Because I am happy, clap along if you know what happiness is to you”. Watching a herd of 60 elephant in the river in front of our bushveld house, with my family around me is a moment of true happiness in my books. I am also thankful that through all these hard and stressful times, I have managed to get past them by looking at the bigger picture; without challenges and hardship in life, it would be boring and we would not appreciate the good things that come our way.
