My parents raised me in an ethnic household and taught me to accept cultures from the Eastern to the Western Hemisphere. My Mom was born in Honduras and met my Dad in the United States. Since my Dad has an Italian and Polish background and my Mom has a Honduran background, I get to experience what it is like from both perspectives of my heritage. I noticed that when I visit my family in Honduras, they interrogate me on what it is like going to an American school, hinting at the fact that it is completely different from Honduran schools. When I am with my Dad’s side of the family, they question me about my American life in my ethnic skin. Both sides of my family made me feel as though I did not adhere to a specific culture.
