Music education is something that was stressed throughout history starting in the Renaissance Era in the European countries, but now music education for all is in danger of becoming a thing of the past in America. Recent laws passed by the American Congress combined with public disinterest have put music education under fire in recent years. Music education is a vital part of any student’s education. This is because without proper education of the arts, the future could very well be one without art or music, which are both large parts of children and young adults forming their creative ideas. According to idmmei.isme.org’s article about music education requirements in Japan, Japanese music education system requires students to study music starting early in Elementary school, usually taught as an independent subject either by the class teacher or by a specialist music teacher. In late Elementary School they choose an instrument to specialize in, Then, In Junior High, music is taught by purely specialized teachers, mostly with masters degrees. Once in Senior High Music is no longer a required subject, but is a prestigious club activity. On the contrary, America’s music education system varies by state, and even counties. But for the most part music is a required subject from 1st grade to 5th grade, and is incredibly non-intensive. Then music is an elective through Middle and High school even though The No Child Left Behind Act clearly mandates The Arts (music, art, foreign language, etc.) as a core academic subject (DoSomething 4). American music teachers generally have bachelor 's degrees and do not strive to attain a higher level education degree, because there is no longer a pay raise for having a Masters or
