We live in a world of multi-taskers. In a way, this ability offers us the capacity to thrive. We are always searching for the fastest possible route to our wants and needs. It drives the way we eat, it has streamlined our language, it even justifies the relationships we keep versus the ones we don’t. Efficiency is an alluring possible outcome of multitasking. What happens when this multitasking becomes detrimental to our success, and the time comes to buckle down and truly focus on one task? For myself personally, nursing school has been one of the most major experiences of that revelation. I have continually realized that since school started, the need for focus by removing distractions as well as diligence in maintaining that focus are the …show more content…
Not only will these actions when put into practice help me become a more effective nurse, but also it can improve my work ethic, help me achieve more of my goals, and prevent a lot of struggle from rising in my daily life.
My SMART Goals A great way for me to achieve better focus and more diligence in maintaining that focus is to use smart goals. Not only will they give me a realistic frame of reference in which I can work towards and achieve my desire and need for better focus and diligence, but help me maintain these habits for a lifetime. My first goal will be with regards to studying, my second goal will be with regards to sleeping.
S – Specific I want to work on two things: staying focused and studying harder, and getting more sleep. Both of these are specific things that are directly related to my phone usage. Focus on the task, sleeping or studying, and diligence in staying away from my phone, are what is needed to achieve my goals. My specifics will be as follows: no texting during class, nor during at least two hours a day of studying, and no phone usage after midnight each
