Is the current minimum wage fair? How does the minimum wage help or hinder Americans? Is minimum wage going up for the better or the worst? Should the minimum wage same how it is or change? The minimum wage has been changing throughout the years and now it is up to ten dollars in California. People think that the minimum wage is not fair to those lower class and its truth for many different reasons. The minimum wage has gone up to $10 and they say it's going to go up to $15 by 2021. My opinion is that the minimum wage should change where everyone is able to support their family and earn enough to pay all the bills. The minimum wage is not fair to many people it affects them a lot such as teen employment, not fair to many, some of the prices go up and it could affect many benefits given by the government, the rises of …show more content…
Teen employment will go down so many of the students will not have any work experiences. According to Kalenkoski, Charlene, Jun2013, states that if the minimum wage changes then it could affect teen employment and the teen would not be higher in most places. The authors say employ spatial econometrics techniques and annual averages data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics to examine how changes in the minimum wage affect teen employment throughout the states. Besides this, the authors find a combined direct and indirect effect of minimum wages on teen employment to be −2.1 percent for a 10 percent increase in the real effective minimum wage. Also, he did some economic research and shown time and again that increasing the minimum wage destroys jobs for low-skilled workers while doing little to address poverty. In conclusion, this shows that the minimum wage destroys jobs for low-skilled workers mostly teen which leads to teens suffering because they have been priced out of the opportunity to work.
