Each military personnel was trying to look as sharp as possible and were doing things in an orderly manner. As I was ready to wrap it up a lieutenant came up to me to ask me a couple of questions. The questions were; Are you ok? What are you doing here private? What unit are you in? I then explained to him that I was conducting an experiment for a college class. We then had a 5 minute conversation and he explained to me that he was watching me and was just worried about the fact that I was sitting down by myself in the PX just starring at people because it is very unusual. He then emphasized the fact that he always checks up on soldiers often due to the high suicide rate in the army which obligated me to show him the assignment so that he could believe me. By doing that experiment I learned that soldiers care about other soldiers no matter what the ranks are.
This was honestly an amazing experience. I was able to look at the world in a sociological perspective, through a sociological, lens. Microsociology also was also present since I was observing a little portion of army soldier but not the whole entire organization. Observational study helped me learn to think like a sociologist due to the fact that I was not distracted and followed the instructions given for the
