Based on observations the mid-day encounter at the mall the deduction method would allow the researcher to hypothesize that stranger would easily speak to one another and make eye contact when near each other. The evening crowd seemed to be more focused on the social interaction with those that they came to meet with rather than anyone else. The researcher could use the deduction method to hypothesize that the mid-day crowd may be more engaging due to the time of day, because they are not drained for tired from a long day. Post observation inductively a pattern is revealed the evening crowd, who possibly had a challenging day, along with being up for several hours. This would require additional observations and interaction with the participants, in the form of interviews or surveys.
