Essay On Mexican Family Immigration System

A Mexican family is setting up a home in Texas after illegally crossing the Mexican border. The father of the family is trying to make a better living for himself and his family by making some good money while in the U.S. A few weeks later the father gets caught working for a business illegally and his family gets deported back to Mexico for illegally being in the U.S. Many people argue whether a situation like this is wrong or not. Should an illegal immigrant and their family be given a chance to come to America legally so they can take care of their family and live a better life or should this still be outlawed? There are multiple solutions that have been discussed such as legalizing as many illegal immigrants as possible, fixing the family-based immigration, strengthening the U.S.’s enforcement, having employment verification, or improving the future flow of immigrants. A solution has been thought about for over 20 years, but nothing has happened. Something needs to change, because right now our immigration system is broken and it’s not very hard to realize that.

Family-based immigration in the past has forced families to wait years or maybe decades to be reunited with their loved ones. Having a bad family-based immigration system causes people to want to sneak into the U.S. illegally which leads to even more problems. By allowing all law-abiding families to be reunited in a fast and humane way will bring so much relief to immigrants. Finding a way to not waste unused and unclaimed family-based visas needs to be figured out. Also, by giving visas to the spouses and children of legalized immigrants, much of this problem could be solved. The number of family-based visas given out should be increased to meet the demand.
