Essay On Metropolitan Health Center

I conducted my agency visit with Metropolitan Health Center. Here, I met and interviewed Mr. Ralph Pallaro. Mr. Pallaro is the program supervisor, he also supervises the counselors, and he has his own private practice. Mr. Pallaro's credentials are LCPC. He stated that he has only been with the organization for one month. Mr. Pallaro informed me that Metropolitan Health Center provides a wide range of prevention and acute intervention services: mental health counseling, group therapy, domestic violence, marriage therapy, young fathers, senior services, and coping skills. They do not offer substance abuse or dementia services at this time. The facility is located at 3062 E. 91st Chicago, IL, 60617, which appears to be in a very good central location. According to Mr. Pallaro, there are 40 to 45 clients per counselor per five days a week, and there are 20 counseling sessions per week per counselor. I was also told, by Mr. Lallaro, that their clients are seen every week in the initial sessions because they are acute; thereafter, the clients come once a week for their sessions. The center has in place what is called the Access Care Program. The Access Care Program has seven other centers, and those other centers refer their clients to Metropolitan Health Center for acute care. When Metropolitan Health Center has clients who are not acute, they refer them to the other agencies. The center also refers to this process as the seven consortiums. Clearly, I found Metropolitan Health Center to be very impressive, and the programs that they had to offer were also impressive. However, I believe that the center can be enhanced by including services for patients with dementia. In spite of this one drawback, I would work there because I believe that I could be an asset to the
