“If a man’s wife does not give him children, he may take a concubine.” This quote proves the men in the Mesopotamian society were more valued over the women. They were able to take another woman to get what they wanted if their wife were not able to conceive. America on the other hand, frowns upon adultery when there are other morally sound ways of having a child. In America today you have multiple options of having a child such as, adoption or having surrogate mother. “Submit to strength. Bow down to the mighty man.” Mesopotamia has a value that they are supposed to obey the man holding the higher status, this can also mean that people listen to your elders. They believed that if someone had a higher standing than a certain person had more power which yes is true but does not give the right to have power over everyone. If you were an elder than they had more knowledge which made them the higher authority. In America they also believe that people should listen to your elders but they should not have to bow down to them. America has values that are to a certain level the same as Mesopotamia but also they are very
