Essay On Maslow's Theory Of Hierarchy Needs

Maslow’s theory of hierarchy needs, which states that we need love esteem and safety to function. It also say that it can account for almost all of human behavior. To me in a sense I think he is right and wrong, you can not always explain someone's behavior because even if somebody has gotten all the love, esteem, and safety possible it can not always dictate what the do and how they behave. I personally believe that he was on to something in a way you can you can explain some behaviors, but it is not one hundred percent certain. By knowing this theory i have understood myself and others a little better. I believe that this is because he was not given love as a child and still is not. His parents do not congratulate him for his successes nor do they reward him for his achievements. In another example my friend Brennan, his mom left their dad when they were young and went off with another man, in consequence he does not believe in being faithful to his girlfriends and will cheat on them without caring for the consequence and he jumps from one to the next without caring for the girls feelings. At first I could not understand y he was like this until I understood what happened with his mom why he would do that and it was because he was devoid of that love from his mom that he is really able to be in a real romantic relationship. I believe that Maslow’s theory works for when you are looking to understand other people, but not yourself because in my experience it only works when you are looking outward but not inwards. That is why I believe that Maslow’s theory is just a theory with a little bit base to it because if it could really explain all of human behavior it could explain mine, but in my experience it does
