Foretold by Banquo, “[Macbeth] shall be King” (1.3.90). I think this single statement is what sparked the pride and the greed embedded into his mindset. Macbeth began to think that he is invincible to “The power of man, for none of woman born /Shall harm Macbeth”(4.1.91-92), therefore really making him more vulnerable, the perfect environment for evil to plant its seed. All that is needed for this evil seed to grow now was the presence of negative influences enabling him to become someone he is not. Among these influences were the three old witches and his wife, Lady Macbeth.

Within the play, night imagery is used more than day imagery. This shows that most of the scenes take place in the night time rather than in the day time. “By th’ clock ‘tis day, /And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp. /Is’t night's predominance or the day’s shame /That darkness does the face of earth entomb /When living light should kiss it?”(2.4.8-10).
