Can You Explain Low Residue Dog Food?

Sometimes dogs have trouble digesting their food and even have the occasional bout of diarrhea or vomiting. Low residue dog food is intended for these times. The term low residue simply means that the dog’s system can digest all of the food. This leaves a very miniscule amount of waste or residue in the system of the dog.

When Would You Give A Low Residue Dog Food?

The most common time a dog is given low residue dog food is after a bout of diarrhea and an upset stomach. These conditions tend to make the dog’s digestive system weak. The weakened system has a hard time with regular dog food. When a dog’s system is compromised it is best they digest as little as possible.
