Low – income minorities demonstrate a lack of educational values, [job expectations], and [critical consciousness]. (Lughinbuhl, Mcwhirter p.43) Using motivational theories to determine the behavior of children is common, but with the sociopolitical development theory the process deepens. The method has revolutionized ways to approach the unique problems of low-income minorities. Separating factors such as the reason for developmental issues in minorities and the reaction of minorities at the cause of their environments. Ultimately placing concerns on the environment of low income minorities, and how it affects their sociopolitical development, educational/job expectations, and health in their early adulthood.
The “Developing Critical Consciousness or Justifying The System” article, engaged with nineteen low income receiving minorities of multiple different backgrounds, by interviewing the individuals and spending quality time. Resulting into negative outcomes hindering their critical consciousness to decipher the inequalities they face from the justice system, educational institutions, and financial institutions. Creating the aftermath of poverty, lack of education, and long term health issues awareness within minority communities to remain stagnate. Withholding minorities from gaining the resources that higher income citizens experience, and not enabling them to see the barriers that constrain their existence in society. Although, until there is a larger study conducted gathering more accurate numbers of the minorities nation wide none of this can be considered as fact but instead theorized
