Heros are extraordinary. Heros do not have to be people who save the world, but they can also do the simplest things and not see themselves as a hero. Heros can be portrayed as role models as well. One of my favorite heros and stories to hear about is the man named Louis Zamperini. How he became a hero is truly incredible. To go through something he did is truly amazing. One minute you’re an athletic superstar beating records and a runner-up to break the four minute mile barrier to being a prisoner of war in Japanese camps. The amount of strength to keep on going is very inspiring. He is a great role model as well. He fights for his life, even though the easiest thing to do would have been to just give up and die. Louis had two parents, Anthony and Louise, his brother Pete, and his two sisters Sylvia and Virginia. The family was very big on religion. The religion they were was Catholic. His parents were very strict in the household about being Catholic (“Louis Zamperini.” Wikipedia.). Their heritage was Italian, and they were immigrants living in Olean, New York. Louis and Pete had caught pneumonia, so the family doctor recommended that the Zamperini’s move to California. They moved to Long Beach, and shortly after they moved to Torrance (Bos, Carole. “Louis Zamperini Story.)
Louis was a Juvenile delinquent when he was young, and was a smoker at age 5 and a drinker at age 8 (Andrews, Evan.) . Since Louis was a delinquent, his older brother, Pete, had suggested that he should do athletics (Bos, Carole. “Zamperini and the 1936 Olympics.”). Louis had gotten in trouble a lot with the police. He was always stealing, vandalizing, and he was always looking to get in a fight with someone. His brother had suggested that he should do athletics so that Louis would stay out of trouble more.
