Long Term Goal-

My long-term professional goal is to start a news and entertainment media venture. Many of the projects I have been working on in the Technology Unit of the American Express utilize technologies that are applicable to developing the infrastructure needs for this venture.

Last couple of years I have been following regularly and doing analysis on several internet new media sites which cover regional news at my home country India and I believe there is still lot of vacuum left for new news media sites which follow ethics and contain information what is needed and desired by every person relating to any field of life. In today’s world news media can change opinions because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of

The emphasis on practical implementation of a subject in real life is a major plus point of American college and university education. It is the level of interaction with students and academicians from the world over that makes America such a stimulating meeting ground for all cultures and thought. Overall the experience has amazingly broadened my perspective of the world around.

The roles I have held in last 7 years of technological exposure have required me to implement and develop my teamwork, management and leadership skills, as well as my cognitive and engineering skills. My strong understanding of the challenges introduced by technology, gained through all levels of involvement in interdisciplinary technological projects, from a software intern to lead software engineer will contribute to the success of the initiative.

However, I need an MBA to learn how to transform my ideas into a viable business. I must learn skills related to finance, marketing and strategic planning, in order to participate in the entire process of developing new technologies, and I believe that University of Florida offers unparalleled opportunities in the fields of entrepreneurship and finance. I am specially looking forward for the courses, Economics of Business Decisions and Finance Management offered by professor’s Dinopoulos and

As a Lead Developer in the company 's Technology Group, I’ve had opportunity to work with the Vice President for Technologies group, who is a MBA graduate from a premier institution in US. I’ve been inspired by his achievements, which are similar to my career goals, and hearing from him about his experiences has led me to consider University of Florida as my next career step. My discussions with him have brought me to realize that, in order to advance from my current position as Lead Developer to Director of Technologies with business development responsibilities, I need to grow in three areas: management theory, hands-on experience, and international perspective and networking.
After speaking with additional UF alumni and students, I’m convinced that a UF MBA is the best way to get all three.
My plan is to stay with this company for 4-5 years, fulfilling the director position role by gaining the experience and exposure on successful implementation of high level technology projects and managing multiple teams. Eventually, I hope to return to my home country and to start the news and media entertainment

There are many reasons why I would like to go to the University of Chicago, but I’d like to start off with the academic aspect of the university. While not specifically a Liberal Arts college, it seems to me that “The Core” is very akin to a Liberal Arts curriculum in the sense that it forces you to expand yourself into different disciplines. I am a big believer in learning about everything because, as I have found, everything is interconnected. With “The Core” curriculum at the University of Chicago, that message of nondiscriminatory learning is clearly emphasized and I know that I will grow as both a person and a student in that kind of an environment. Once I complete “The Core” curriculum, I will be able to focus more on my major working with world-renown faculty solving the world’s problems one step at a time.…
