One of the most popular jobs for teenagers these is lifeguarding. It can be the easiest and the hardest job they ever have depending on where they work. If it is a pool like Grosse Ile Country Club it will the easiest job they ever had. The responsibilities are not as demanding as they would seem if they were trained right. There are two shifts: the morning shift, which is not really in the morning more like the early afternoon, and the evening shift. The shifts are all similar though, but the better shift would be the evening shift, since it is not as hot as the morning shift, and it is not as busy either.
Most shifts are normally only four hours, but sometimes a lifeguard can be scheduled for an eight hour day. Some people may be called

The lifeguards that work the morning shift come in at eleven-thirty and have to do the tasks for the pool to open at noon. The tasks that they do are fairly simple. The guards start with making sure the locker rooms are clean and stocked with the supplies they need. If there is not a boy or girl on shift the guard needs to yell into the locker room to make sure no one is in there before entering the opposite gender’s locker room. After making sure the locker rooms are well stocked the guards unlock the locker room doors that go out towards the pool, and the door to the snack shack on the pool side. Near the entrance to the boy’s locker room are the umbrellas for the tables placed throughout the deck, and the guard chair near the kiddie pool. Since the umbrellas cannot stay open by itself, a pin has to be put in it so they stay open. After they put the umbrellas in the tables the guards will check all the trashcans to see if they need to be taken out. If they do then the guards will place all the bags in a golf cart, and drive it to the dumpsters that are about a hundred yards away from the pool. If there is not any time to take the trash out before the pool opens, then they take it to the side of the building and wait until the end of the day to take

In literature and in life, halcyon moments are integral to our development as individuals. In the story “Lifeguard” Chris’ halcyon moment is when he is, “high diving, [Chris] like[s] everything about it, the swing of [his] back [when] [Chris] climb[s] the ladder, the metal steps and rungs cold under [his] feet and hands. [Chris] even like[s] the way [his] stomach falls away when [he] get[s] to the top and [can] feel the pebbly grain of the platform under [his] feet” (Scott p.22 line 20-23). The reason for this being his halcyon is because when Chris goes diving before the pool opens, he gets a kick out of it. He loves the way the kids stare at him with open mouths through the glass of the viewing area.…

Unlike other branches of the military the guard is mostly stationed on home soil (though they can be mobilized by the federal government to fight overseas). Each state unit is controlled by their state government when they are not mobilized by the federal government. When you join the national guard, you can choose from a range of different career paths to work and receive training in.…

    1) How would you be a valuable Head lifeguard? Knowing that having the title of head lifeguard comes with additional responsibility and dedication on top of regular lifeguard duties, I believe that I am more than qualified not only with my skills as a regular lifeguard, but my ability to be a leader, communicate with others, and have a strong sense of responsibility. After writing my creative writing stories, I have discovered an abundance about grabbing the reader through dialogue and characterization. The short story The Lifeguard, by Mary Morris, taught me to understand how and when to describe characters. By using direct and indirect characterization, which can be seen in the beginning of the short story, ”I’d have to hold them at bay. They’d offer to buy me things-Cokes, hot dogs-and rub cream on my back while I sat like an idol”. Morris showed me a picture of what the lifeguard looked like and how he acted, which enticed me to continue reading.…
