The story of Life Of Pi by Yann Martel has truly taught me how to appreciate the little things in life. Life of Pi shows a journey of a young Indian man named Piscine Molitor Patel or “Pi” and a Bengal tiger across the ocean in a lifeboat. This story was so good that it transformed into a Hollywood movie which director, Ang Lee tried to depict to the best of his abilities. When adapting a book into a movie, there are two things to take into consideration: Those who have read the book and those who have never read the book. The movie, in my opinion, does a great job in doing this by bringing a lot of parts from the book but leaving minor things behind. I did not like the fact that Satish Kumar who is Pi’s biology teacher at school was completely taken out of the movie. He was Pi’s favorite teacher and an atheist who sees the zoo as his temple. There was a character who was actually added to the movie that was not in the book at all and that character is Pi’s love interest, Anandi. Pi was sent by his mother to work for a dance class and take his mind off of things and this is where Pi met Anandi. Pi adopts an emotional dedication for Anandi and makes his departure from Pondicherry, India to Winnipeg, Canada even more difficult. He uses her as a source of his motivation by recalling her image throughout various scenes of the
