To start the most meaningful thing that we did in this class was the Leadership Journey presentation. It seemed like so long ago presenting them, but something I will not forget about this class. One of the reasons it was so memorable was because we got out of our comfort zone and could talk about some private things with people we do not know very well. Me going first for the presentations was also memorable for this project. I felt as if I was able to set the way for people in the class because of how I expressed myself. I felt as if it helped people feel more comfortable talking about private things. Another reason why the leadership journey was because of the relationships that we developed with people in the class after all the journeys. I remember before the journeys that we did not connect with people as much. I have developed very good relationships with people in this class and I know that was because of the leadership journeys. The second meaningful thing that we did in this class …show more content…
I do not see it in many of my future classes as leadership is a very different type of class and was centered around being a discussion type class with learning and getting to know your peers. Sports will be a big part of my leadership journey after this class. Learning the concepts and learning how to be a better leader help me be a leader on and off the field. I will want to get to know my teammates better and learn what they like and do not like. I will also use leadership traits in my future career. Like I mentioned before I want to go into occupational therapy and that career requires a lot of listening and understanding to be successful in that career. I will be working with patients who had a disability or an injury and need to know about their daily lives to figure out what I need to do with them to help to the best of my

Thirty years ago, students attending Wahconah Regional High School had a different experience as they went through their normal activities of the year. For example, if a student were to play two sports throughout the course of an academic year, they did not have to pay a sports fee (today that fee is $100). Why is that? The answer is simple. Funding is different because the tax system imposed on the seven surrounding towns.…

    1. After reflecting on who or what event provided me with leadership influence I concluded there wasn’t one person or one event that has had the most effect on me to strive to become a better leader or person for that matter. Many of my past supervisors and present alike have been good and bad with more good than bad. I attempt to take pieces from each of their leadership qualities, use things I liked and stayed away from their “bad” leadership qualities I did not believe helped me grow as a leader or produce quality jobs or mission results. All the while, my own personality and beliefs intertwined with their leadership styles to make me who I am today as a leader.…

from the event if possible. The event I attended was the Intercollegiate YMCA Leadership Class; I chose this particular event because I felt it would apply to my major in some way down the line – even if I never particularly become a ‘leader’ of sorts. I would have to say it was very interesting to be a part of this class, even if it was much smaller than I had thought it would be. After introductions and doing a small assessment to see what…

Five months later, no one had joined my program and cooperation and motivation remained low. In creating my programs, I didn’t communicate my reasoning and assigned tasks based on my own judgement.…

I always have followed the saying “if you work hard in life now you will not have to work as hard later.” This saying applies not only to how I work during school now, but how I participate in activities outside of school. To excel in what you want to achieve in life, I believe you need to put in the best effort and try your best in whatever you do. Living by this idea has helped me become a leader in the things I do. It has helped me put others at the same standard as myself and it helps me show my character.…

I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. When my parents told me that phrase, it definitely stuck with me throughout my life. I think that’s a phase most kids hear time to time in their childhood. It’s that phrase that makes you question, what it a leader?…

In developing my personal philosophy of educational leadership I was able to focus on what qualities I already posses to be a successful leader. Leadership is both a science and an art. Good leadership requires an accurate sense of self, a well-communicated vision, the ability to earn the trust of others and the capability to take effective action. In order to “build your house of leadership” your actions must inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. (Duren, Lec. 2). Throughout the semester, I have learned that some of the five Kouzes and Posner leadership practices in The Leadership Challenge come naturally to me while others do not.…
