According to Alainal (2015), at least 50% of the African American family population have a head of household that are women. During the early stages of a child's life, African American children experience poverty from having only one parent working in the home. African American women who are the sole providers for their family earn lower wages compared to men. Compared to other races, most African American families raise their children with one supporting income. African American men find it hard to acquire and maintain a job, often finding themselves unemployed. Families living with lowered income can only afford to meet the minimal standards of living, this includes living in poverty. Latinos are considered to be the largest race in the United States today. Latinos have gender roles and social status within their families and home. Unlike African Americans, Latino women carry a more traditional role within the home. Latino women carry a stay at home role within the family. This includes taking care of the home, cleaning and caring for the children for example. Latinos usually have extended family members living with them in their home such as a grandparent or cousins for example. Compared to African American men, Latino men led a more dominate role within the social influence of family life. Latino men care for their families by working and keeping up their financial duties and responsibilities. African American women seem to have suffered more compared to the other races regarding the gender aspect. This is because a majority of African American families are raised by a single parent. Making them have to work harder to stay outside of poverty lines. Social equality with gender overall in all races is lacking due to lower wages that women are paid compared to men. Comparing all gender roles the gender roles of each race are similar but different. African American women work compared to Latino women who stay home. All women are similar because they earn a lower wage compared to men. According to Frable (1997), the US Bureau Census indicated that by the year 2050 the United States will have a population that make up approximately 53% of Americans, with only 25% of the population who are to be Hispanic, along with 14% being African Americans and the lowest with only 8% of the population being of Asian descent. There are many different cultures which are continuing to grow rapidly in the United States. I believe racism along with gender inequality should be a thing of the past.
