In response to the Las Vegas shooting, President Trump spoke to the nation calling for the nation to stay united. President Trump then went to Las Vegas to meet the families of the victims and the law enforcement that responded to the situation. When there the president mentioned nothing about the shooter or the situation of the attack instead he expressed empathy for the victims and thanked the police department for their service. The article then states that President Trumps actions seemed restrained since as a political candidate he warned of the threat of radical Islamic terrorism by using mass shootings as examples. However, later we could see this event used to focus on certain issues, otherwise known as narrowcasting, allowing the media to push policy agenda towards issues supported by that cite. The article points out that President Trump steered away from narrowcasting his conservative view of immigration. However, by pointing out President Trumps affiliations with the National Rifle Association and his silence on political issues gives the article a liberal tone on the issue of gun control. Besides this, the article does a well job of staying unbiased on the topic on hand. All forms of media were on this story when it happened starting with broadcast media talking about it first, since it can spread information faster, and after the numbers were gathered the print media was able to start sending the detailed information. President Trumps response to the event agreed with the public opinion on this event since he did not use this event to push political agenda and rather respected the victims of this event by mourning the people killed in this tragic event.
