I decided to conduct my interview on a fellow coworker named Haley Smith. Haley and I worked together at a local restaurant called, Steak n’ shake in Orange Park, Florida. I decided she would make a great candidate for the tattoo interview, because she is always very open and friendly. I have known Haley for 4 months, and have developed a semi amicable friendship with her. Haley is a twenty-four year old college student, whom is working on attaining an associate’s degree by the end of this year. The highest level of education she has acquired is a high school diploma and a year of community college. Her future ambitions include traveling the world and getting a master’s degree in nursing. We both decided that we would also grab dinner together at the Panera sandwich shop right down the street. I suggested Panera because of its' casual atmosphere. The setting was an integral part of the interviewing process. I didn’t want the setting to intimidate nor did I want to meet at a place that would promote social awkwardness between us. After we ordered our meal we found a seat in the rear and began conducting our interview. My interviewing style was unstructured. She was aware that I wanted to know more about her tattoo and that the intent was not to demonize her of her choices. I wanted to come across as supportive and as nonthreatening as possible. The best way I knew how to conduct an interview, which was based on Russell Bernard’s article was to use both the tell me more probe and the uh huh probing (Bernard 2011:161-162). I knew both type of probes in unison would be effective because of the fact that most young adult love to talk about themselves. I would start out with a questions and feign interest. This tactic would encourage Haley to tell me more about herself without having to ask too many questions. Haley told me that
