The future of North America is heading south when chaos happens. Panem rises from the

ashes of North America like a phoenix. There are 13 districts but when district 13 tries to rebel

against the capitol, a group of prissy, superior people causes the capitol to destroy district 13.

President Snow, the president of Panem, decided to create a horrible game called the Hunger

Games. In these games 1 boy and 1 girl will be sacrificed from each district to fight to the death

until only one is the victor. The Games are to remind the other districts to not rebel. This will all

change for there is one girl who will succeed to rebel against the capitol. Her name is Katniss

Everdeen.

District 12 is a very poor district. She is a very skilled hunter with a bow

and snares. She and her friend Gale, who has been hunting with Katniss for years, helped her

with teamwork. Then the day came...the reaping, which is when they choose the tributes for the

hunger games. Effie Trinket is the one who calls the names of the tributes from each district.

This was Prims first reaping and she was frightened. When she heard her name, her heart

dropped. Katniss volunteers for her sister willingly. She crosses paths with a boy that looked

familiar. He was the baker’s son who gave the bread when she was starving and that bread was

sign of hope. She is mentored by Haymitch, a previous survivor of the hunger games.

The theme that I noticed that was universal was poor people vs rich people. The poor

people have little to none food. While the rich get their food handed to them. The poor lack

health and the rich are as healthy as a horse. This is the same thing that is going on today in
